STATEMENT OF FAITH
The following information is provided to help you understand what we as a people of faith believe. It based on the Bible as our sole source of authority in determining doctrine and practice. This information is not meant to be all-encompassing.
The Bible
We believe the Bible, is the fully inspired, authoritative and infallible word of God and supreme authority in all matter’s faith and conduct. The Bible is a message from God that is powerful and eternally life changing. 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21, Hebrews 4:12, Psalm 19:7-11
The Trinity
We believe there is only one living and true God eternally existing in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory. This triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all. Matthew 28:19, Ephesians 4:4-6
God the Father
We believe that God the Father is perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son, was fully God and fully human. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and was born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, was crucified and died for the sins of humankind, arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father as our High Priest and advocate. Jesus Christ is the only provision that God has given for people to be reconciled to Him.
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit draws sinners to Christ and equips and empowers believers for personal growth and service. He is abiding helper, teacher, guide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all the biblical gifts of the Spirit.
John 14:16-17, John 14:26, Romans 8:26-27, 1 Corinthians 12:4-11
Salvation
We believe that man was created in the image of God but by voluntary disobedience he fell from perfection; and that all people are sinners and in need of God’s forgiveness. Salvation comes only through Gods saving grace, not human effort, and must be received personally by repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Right standing with God must be received and cannot be earned. Salvation is a free gift from God for those who will trust in Him.
Romans 5:12, Romans 3:22-24, John 3:16
The Adversary
We believe that we have an adversary (often referred to as the devil.) God created him as a beautiful being and gave him authority to serve in Heaven. Motivated by pride however, he corrupted his wisdom and attempted to receive a portion of the Glory of the Lord. Therefore, he was cast out of Heaven. There is no hope for him to be reconciled. The Lord has prepared a place of torment where he will eventually be locked up for eternity along with all of his followers. Isaiah 14:12-20, Ezekiel 28:12-19
Second Coming
We believe that at the end of the age everyone will experience resurrection and the final judgement. Those who responded to Gods free gift of salvation will enjoy eternal fellowship with God. Those who did not repent and acknowledge the sacrifice of Gods Son, Jesus, will be sent away to eternal punishment in hell.
2 Corinthians 15:10, 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, John 3:16
Baptism
We believe in a believer’s baptism. Baptism is an act of obedience following a person’s profession of faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism is a public identification with Christ and the church. After a person has trusted in Christ, the physical act of baptism serves as a public symbol of identification with his or her crucified, buried, and risen Savior. The Apostle Paul explains that going into the water enables us to identify with the burial of Christ, and coming out of the water enables us to identify with the resurrection of Christ.
Marriage and Human Sexuality
We believe that marriage is God ordained and is to be an exclusive relationship, a lifelong faithful union between one male and one female. We believe the Christian covenant of marriage is sacred and as such cannot be redefined by man or any civil government. As followers of Christ this is what we mean when we use the word “marriage”, not out of condemnation but devotion to Jesus, the scriptures, and the community of the Holy Spirit.
